Yesterday I ran my truck for about 5 minutes and drove to the back of the property. Then I restarted it and noticed the temp gauge pegged over 210! Drove it to the barn and shut if off. Noticed the coolant was down and added maybe 6 pints. I also noticed some oil burning off the manifold towards the rear of the engine and a small exhaust leak in the same proximity. (the valve cover is just snugged on and leaks some) The oil looks "liquidy" but still amber. No signs of cream and is at a normal level.

I have to admit that I had revved it up on start up but nothing any different than shifting from 2nd to 3rd on a hill. I'm hoping it's a water pump issue.

Today I went and checked it out again. The coolant level dropped about a quart over night. There was some coolant on the cardboard but not so much as a quart. I started it up for a few minutes to watch the coolant level after I refilled. It did warm up and the thermostat did seem to open since there was some movement of coolant. Still greenish in color but does have some rusty looking blobs here and there. There has been no smoke from the exhaust white or blue. There does not appear to be any visible drops coming from the radiator or hoses. Both heater hoses were warm although I did not check the upper or lower hoses.

As far as the water pump, it squeaks, has some play in the bearings, and appears to now be slinging some rusty spray on the engine.

Still have to check the spark plugs for color.

Any opinions appreciated.
