I am hoping to find a modern electronic one if the tach feature can work on a 6v system (positive and negative ground would be nice, but negative ground would be OK).

I bought a Handheld Digital Laser Photo Tachometer that has a dry-cell 9v battery but uses a reflective strip (on the harmonic balancer).
