I've always felt the 216/235/261 was a superior design for preventing vapor lock. The fuel pump is on the opposite side of the block from the exhaust manifold. The fuel line is routed in front of the engine near the radiator. I had a 48 Dodge and it always had hot start issues after a long drive - even in mild weather. The fuel pump on that engine was right under the exhaust manifold and the gas line went right over it up to the carb.
