The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Carburetor linkage different from 55 to 58?

I have a 55 Belair with Rochester single barrel. My mechanic and I just installed a 235 engine from a 58 truck, my old engine was non rebuildable. Everything we are using is from my 55 except block and head. He said the linkage is too long and unable to connect to carburetor. The engine is the same size, can this be true? He said I should by linkage rod from a 58. Thanks!
