It's possible to reverse the connections inside the generator housing during a rebuild. the only surefire way to tell which way to connect the wiring is to:

LOOK AT THE BRUSH WIRING like I suggested!

Since the only person who can do that is our new guy, any more discussion is moot. I've seen these generators set up both ways!
