One of the reasons that I reluctantly abandoned the six volt starter was the incredible increase in RPM that the 12 volt battery turns the six volt starter. Instant start up without the "I think I can, I think I can" sinking feeling of the six volt battery. Having said that, the other reason I made the switch was the frustration that I had with the voltage regulator (I went with a one wire, internal regulator alternator).
