I just put a new after market floor in my 56 pickup, well not quite in yet, I'm wondering if I screwed up when I cut the whole floor out because the aftermarket floor seems thin and flimsey, the floor was almost totally rotten at least at the mounts (big suprise), should I have just put it on top of the old floor or am I doing it right, also the stock crossmembers are in bad shape I've descided to fabricate a new mounting system with 2.5" tube because the stock mounting system is in my opinion the source of most of the problems, like the front cross member which leaves 8 inches and the weight of the whole cab sitting out beyond the cross member.
What do you guy's think ? am I heading in the right direction ,keep in mind I'm not restoring so much as rodding because it wasn't oridional when I got it , I guess I just want it to be a good reliable driver
