The original-style weatherstrip was similar to thick roofing felt (Advance Design trucks). I found it did not make a good seal, so I used 1" wide vinyl window/door weatherstrip that had adhesive on one side (Home Depot). Though it is not like the original, it seals better and allows for easy removal/repacement of the transmission cover (you can't see it anyway).
