Somewhere on the side of the box there will be casting numbers (my guess is the passenger side) and then somewhere there will be a stamped serial number (could be anywhere on the main box). A putty knife and a wire brush are your friend...it's easier for you to tell us what you have than for us to guess. After 60 years there is no telling what trans has been swapped in or out.
