The 48 2 ton was designed to be an implement carrier. the bed lifts up to align with loading ramps (22 degrees +/-)and the loading winch pulls the unit up on bed.
It has been tested with a farm tractor about 4500 lbs.
Lifts it just fine.
That was the reason for the gear reduction (about 3:1)
There is always the option adding more reduction. It lifts a little faster than the shaft PTO did, so even if I doubled the reduction it would have a reasonable travel rate. I intend to test it at the max load when I get the truck weighed and calculate how much of the 16000 GVW is left for load. The stock truck could carry 10,000 but the truck has put on about 2k.
FYI the leads from the battery (in the new side pod)to the motor are only 30" long and are 1/0 wire.
