Most primers aren't waterproof, so don't leave a primered truck out in the weather. I painted my old '55 CJ-5 myself, turned out ok, and I learned alot. I am going to paint my truck, and this time it will turn out good. Prep work is the key, and if think what you have is "good enough", it isn't, you need to do it until it is too good and you can't find one little spot that you need to work on. Then you paint it, and find a few spots where it wasn't.
