I did my bed cheap...I used the rough red oak and ran it through a planer then used a table saw to cut the grooves for the bed rails and then the 5 coats of marine spar...I coaxed my girlfriend in to holding the bolts for the bed rails ...cost me a steak supper....great tradeoff for me!! My bed was less than $400CDN finished!!
