Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 | Same issue with an "okie" bushing for my truck. 52 1/2 ton. Turns out I have an early third member/torque tube. It will stick hard and swell the tube if you try to put it all the way in. It is very difficult(impossible) to remove if it sticks tight. That 1 and 1/2 inch will make the trunnion too long to push back into the transmission. If you do force it into place(I did) the rear output bearing in the transmission and the pinion bearing can fail. Not the best work I have ever done. If you continue to hit it into place...it will deform. That ain't good either. Measure the torque tube inside diameter(calipers are your friend) measure the outside diameter at the end of the bushing that will be close to the transmission. 0.003 press fit is all you need. More than that and you have the wrong part. How did an older torque tube get into a later truck? Come on. 60 years of farm repairs and that is self explanatory. Failure to notice the brake adjusters...well that is all on me.
