Sent u a couple pictures, only ones I have in the shop are Carters, no connection between choke and throttle but yours may have a stepped plate to open the throttle plate a little when the choke is on but I don't think it should be connected to the return spring. I may be thinking about an automatic choke though.
Hope I didn't confuse you more, I may have confused myself though!
