This issue sounds like it could benefit from "hotrods" kerosene crank case flush procedure. You might be real lucky and just have some stuck piston rings resultant from the trucks long nap. What do you think Jerry?
In any case given your comfort level (or un-comfort level), go slow and try cheap and easy fixes before tearing the whole engine apart.
