There would still be major spillage during a filter change unless you mounted the canister upside down. Why swap to a less-efficient filter just for the novelty of having a self-contained can?

To answer your question directly (after someone else felt compelled to barge in with her offensive drivel ...), I don't know.
I don't really understand the logic in messing with these antiquated, inferior, money pit vehicles at all.
I guess I get lost in the nostalgia of it all.
