yes, the springs on the hood hinges - actually it could be the hinges themselves, but the springs are easier to swap - if the hinge pivots are worn [they all are by 50 years later] the springs will pull things into the wrong position when the hoods closed, but also can be a result of weak or unbalanced springs - my 58 was like that when I got it and got better w/ a different set of used springs, then worse later after the paint was done and the hood had been off and on twice, I think cuz I oiled the hinges well eek new hinges and springs fixed it immediately
