I would expect with all the fidgeting around in the distributor, you may have moved it a little causing the timing to be a little off. Just loosen the vac advance collar enough so the distributor turns just easy enough to play with the timing. No need to loosen the bolt. Start it, listen to the engine and it will tell you when you are close to the sweet spot. lower rpm and crappier running to the left AND to the right is the sweet spot. Then later you can check it with a timing light and vac gauge. Good luck! We have some amazing talent here.
