Thanks for posting more images. The brake drum configuration is nothing like the WW2 Chevy huck brakes. Have you replaced the seals, and are there modern replacement equivalents? It looks like you have a leaker.

I am not familiar with the production numbers of the AFXX's but it does not seem that many survived.
