The "keep at 'er" thing is ever-so true.
I've been doin that with my El Camino for about 6 years:

This is what it looked like after I cleaned it up and put new wheels and tires on it shortly after purchase. I got it for $400 cuz it had been sittin in a field for 9 years with a blown tranny.

After a little work (6 years worth) it looks fairly nice....and runs like a raped ape. (Whatever that is.) Yeah...I'm vaguely familiar with the "keep at it" methodology.
