I believe this transmission was manufactured in 1949. My question is on the spacer between the reverse and counter driven gear (I believe this is correct - it is the only spacer in the counter shaft assembly). The spacer sleeve has only about 0.004" of play in the axial direction when measured with a feeler gauge. There is some movement in the radial direction and when I spin the countershaft assembly I can hear the spacer sleeve making noise as the shaft rotates. Is this normal for the spacer shaft to have about 0.004" play in the axial direction and clank when the counter shaft is turned. I assume that was the tightest snap ring they could get in. The four pins are pressed in but may have some wear. I do not want to disassemble this again if this movement in the spacer sleeve is normal. http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a584/1866yellowboy/20150701_175841_zpspm66e6lc.jpgAs always any and all help is appreciated. | | | |
