I'm amazed that millions of vehicles from the 1920's, 30's, 40's and 50's didn't self destruct, since "ammeters are fire starters". Incorrect, sloppy wiring by people who don't have any business fooling with electricity is what starts fires, not the choice of "ammeter or voltmeter"!
