I have those clips that the end of the cables hook into and I would tend to agree with you about the 1/8 inch. That should easily be taken up through the adjustment. The procedure in the manual looks pretty straight forward. I may have to lean on your experience when I re-assemble the parking brake as most of mine is missing; however, I have located parts!
I don't have the drive shaft brake system, so all of this is applicable and appreciated.
