There was no real VIN in 1950-1952.

Those trucks had a Vehicle Serial Number (on door jamb) and an Engine Serial Number (to the rear of where the distributor goes into the block). Either code might have been used for registering/titling for those years of trucks. I have bought two trucks, each from two states, and in each state a different code-type was on each truck's titles/registrations.

If the engine was replaced, and the Engine Serial Number was used for registration/titling, the engine installer might have pressed the truck's original Engine Serial Number into the replacement engine (to the rear of where the distributor goes into the block).
