Guys,
Good info all the way around. I just can't bring myself to tear into a running engine without a good reason and to me, taking off the timing cover and oil pan are getting pretty close. I've actually wondered about the oil pan and whether or not I should drop it and clean it, since I know it was where the sludge collected and modern detergent oil will cause it to recirculate. I guess I can look for non-detergent oil, to keep the sludge where it is for now. What do you all think, worth the effort?
