I’m replacing the ball ends on the tie rod, pitman arm, and drag link with the original style (but with the threaded stud) on my ‘41. I got the old ones out OK.
I started replacing the one on the pitman arm. I got the ball end started into the pitman arm using a vise. I was pounding on the ball end with a hammer to get enough threads thru to attach a nut to pull it the rest of the way thru with the nut. The ball stud broke between the threads and the stud. It was about 2/3 of the way in.
Apparently that’s not the best way to install it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
