Thanks for your input Bill, I'm leaning towards 283 as well, but this isn't the factory engine, the truck is a '55 that came with a 265.
The heads are definitely '57 283, but there is no way to tell if they are original to the block.
Block and head casting numbers are definitely the same from Canadian or US plants, it's the stamping numbers that are unique to Canadian builds.
