I believe the blue tape is household stuff. Keith is correct get the 3M good stuff.
You may want to get some "fine line" tape. It comes in different dimensions, 1/16, 1/8, 2/4...
You can find it at your local Paint store.
This will give you a very nice line. Masking tape has a rough edge.
Lay this tape out and then apply the 3M stuff with paper on top of that.
