Be sure to secure the lifter tops with those snap rings before you reassemble things. I have seen "Tru-Arc" snap rings substituted for the wire clips by some people, but finding rings thin enough to fit the grooves in the lifter body can be a bit of a challenge. Carefully grinding the snap rings to a knife edge usually works if they're too thick.
