If you do run an electric pump make sure you get one at a low enough pressure, too high and the float won't stop the flow and you will flood.

I would second the pump in-line with mechanical. Rely on the mechanical and go to electric if needed.....in fact you could just bring an electric pump along to plumb in if it fails along the way as well.
