I don't understand why the hood is giving a problem, unless you are missing the hold-down clamp on the cowl. The hood hinge slides under a upside down, u shaped piece of metal, that is bolted down to the cowl, while the front end of the hinge, slides into the bull nose curved piece, bolted to the top grille. I have the rubber corners on the back end, of the side hoods and rest them on the cowl, inside of the cowl weather stripping. My hood rubbers came from Steele I think, and are about 18 years old. They have never scratched the Imron paint and hold the hood open, on either side or both, unless there is a small hurricane blowing.
