The angled manifold makes the exhaust pipe interfere with the steering box adjuster bolt on civilian art deco trucks (Not sure about military). Looked at pictures of 235 conversions on the internet and noticed some people hammered a flat in the exhaust pipe to provide clearance. Looks a bit tacky, so I used the 216 manifolds when putting a 1959 engine in my suburban. I ground out the ports in the manifolds to match the head.
