Before we built the garage, back a few years ago we use to use a battery blanket. The way it worked was to plug it in over night, the blanket was a warmer that kept the battery just like a summer day. Also we would use a block heater which kept the oil warm. Never failed to start even the coldest part of our Canadian winters.
