That was one of the reasons a lotta guys liked Detroits. A 371 was a half of a 6V71 and most of the parts interchanged. I run nothing but Cummins in my fleet simply because I evolved with them the last 46 years. I do have a Detroit in my yard mule. It takes a lot of abuse and keeps on screaming. Detroits make good vocational engines and they start pretty good in cold weather if they have good compression.
