WAIT ! all you needs do is : get a can of engine starting fluid ! it's _ether_ and makes the perfect prep wash , just _be_sure_ to only use it out side as the fumes will knock you out if you get a snootful .
I do the same prep as you did , I just ad the final step of washing the part down with ether 1 minute before painting .
Remember , many _thin_ coats , waiting 15 minutes between each coat and after 5 ~ 6 coats it'll look professional plus will adhere better .
