I have an SM420 tranny, but I also have a TCI Mustang II front end, the cross member fills the void from the the front original cross member to the drop in the pan pretty much. I did email Jim Carter asking for a diagram of the pipe routing. Also have a rear mounted gas tank between the frame, but there is at least 6" on each side between frame for running pipes, gotta be a rear pipe for the rap music. I'll wait to see if JC responds.
