Have you followed closely, the Factory Repair Manual instructions? There are some very specific procedures which must be followed closely and in the correct order. I had to write them down line-by-line to wrap my head around them, as I found the Manual's layout of the instructions awkward. BTW, keep us posted on your progress, as I am trying to put a 54 hood on a 49, and can't find a definitive answer whether it will fit. Or maybe we can swap hoods smile
