I put a set of the "type A" plates on the running boards of the 2 ton. I think they look really great on the boards that I coated in black bed liner.
Not only is the bed liner resistant to scratching, it gives the look of rubber covers, which were available for that size running board. And the plates I got were old, so when I polished them up they look just used enough I don't worry about scratching them.
