I used the welting as pictured in DADS50's post both on my front and rear fenders with success. As shown in his photo cutting those types of bolt reliefs is key to a good fit (and 3M weatherstrip glue). I sharpened a 1/2 pipe nipple on my bench grinder as a punch to make the holes and the cut the remainder with scissors. It has held up well and while the factory may not have applied it to the rear fenders I think it finishes them off.
I will take a close-up shot but here you can see the welt on the rear.
