Same with my 6500. Air with no Spring Brakes. I had the E-Brake that had the Lever right under the dash near the passenger side. You could adjust the brake by turning the Knob at the end of the handle. I never did trace it back to see how it worked. My truck had the Clark Trans. You almost had to pack a lunch for your hand to go from 1st to 2nd, lol (for those not familiar with it, it was a 5-Speed, with 1st all the way to the right and down, 2nd was all the way to the left and up).
