FYI: The snout on the air cleaner is a silencer. Those long skinny snouts also put a little kick in the torque curve, as can be seen on dyno tests. As mentioned, the engine wants warm air for cold ambient operation, but then wants colder air for performance. Preheating the air allows for a leaner mixture for emissions too.
