It sounds like if you get the bell housing that was on the engine the transmission came from, it should fit on your engine and allow you to use the '47 transmission. You may have to deal with driveshaft/torque tube lengths and number of splines , though. Someone with more knowledge will probably provide info on this.FYI,I have learned from the Stovebolt site that there can be (in different components)differences between Chevy and GMC
