Something let loose inside my 235 the other day. I finally got the truck towed home and have started to open up the engine to see what's wrong. I took all the bolts out of the oil pan, but the last guy who was in there used plenty of gasket sealer and the pan won't move. I don't want to damage the pan or block. So the question: how do I get that thing off? Yes, the engine is still in the truck-I'm hoping it can be repaired in place.
Question 2: if this engine is a bigger job than I can do right now, what would be a direct, drop-in replacement? It seems that I can buy a used engine for just a few hundred dollars and that might be a way to get the truck back on the road quickly. Eventually, I want to rebuild the original and put it back in, but I need the truck running as soon as I can get it.
The truck is a '46 PW 2-ton grain truck that I use on my farm.
Thanks
