Quite possible Greg, as we've observed over the years there were
many variations in the assembly lines from one year to the
next and the different locations had their lines laid out
differently and I'm sure management had different ideas for the
production flow at there location and even the line supervisors
right down to the guy that actually pulled the trigger would
have had their own best way of getting the job done.
So it would probably be more accurate to say, trucks coming out
of some locations had the bed & fenders bolted together before
they got to the paint line.
But getting back to the subject, the hood emblems were never, at
any of the plants, applied with a gasket behind them.
