And you are correct from what I've seen Gus. I do believe the
beds were assembled with the fenders and the whole thing shot.
I've also got similar pictures of my '50 somewhere on a dead
computer hard drive, that looks just like that. You can see
the break where the original paint and black e-coat meet with
the fender off.

They used fender welting as anti-squeak in the front fender
because with every thing hung off the back of the clip it
would move around some, where there would be very little if
any movement of the rear fenders.
