As said above, on the one wire alternator the brown wire has to somehow go back to the battery, or the amp gauge to the battery, or to the starter switch "on" position. Now, that said, the one wire alternator will need to get some rev out of the motor initially to get the thing "excited" to charge. That is with every new start up. You have really quite easy hook up.
