Rick, So was this Admiral Benson also your relative? I'm thinking this man's name could have been Roy Benson, but not 100% sure.
Just looked up your Gr Grandpa's ship in my old copy of Jane's Fighting ships. Shows USS Benson DD-421 had been transfered to Taiwan in 1954 also lists 22 DDs of the Benson-Mayo class, that is wonderful, what a great history you have.
And thanks for the kind words on my trucks. I've always liked the 36s, per the story I mentioned of my wife's driving test.
