I actually had one of the Man-A-Free 4 carb manifolds that Bill mentions on a 283 in the early 60's. Although I had Stromberg 97's on it. It was definitely a different driving experience but impressive when you opened the hood. It ran OK at 6000 feet elevation at lake Tahoe but really came on when we went down to Reno which is about 4200 ft. They were not great for low end but performed really well at mid range and above. I changed it out for a Rochester Fuel Injection when I rebuilt the engine. It ran better than multiple carb set up's at high altitude.
