Since we all have our own opinion. It's silly for anyone to make fun of a 350 just because everyone likes them. They DO have more torque and more HP. They ARE a newer technology with better casting, cooling, reliability, weigh about the same and more parts availability.. You can't make them a bad engine just by joining in on an adolescent joke about them. If a person has a 283, go for it, but don't think it's anything but more nostalgic than a TreeFiddy. The 283 is very "fitting" for that truck. Personally, I like BBC the best. Build a 283 and 350 with same type components and put them in two 59 trucks and the 350 will blow the others doors off.
