I've always wondered about those films/clear coating's. As thin
as they are I don't see how they would protect what's underneath.
Always seemed to me that it would just transfer the ding right
thru to paint/metal that's behind it.
Might help for the small sand sized particles if you did a lot
of open highway driving, but I have serious doubts about stones
or rocks. Besides, it looks like crap, but that's just my opinion.
Those battle scars Alvin, tell me that it's not a trailer queen
and the guy isn't afraid to actually use his vehicle.

They work quite well, actually. Many new vehicles have them and the majority of rocks bounce right off. I've seen it done on vintage vehicles where it looks good, but you need to get the right thin stuff and the person applying it has to know what they're doing.
